Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Training
What a phlebotomist needs before the first real patient
Employers and the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) look for the same two things: documented successful draws and a program that taught safety the way OSHA, CDC and CLSI standards describe it. Stone Academy's program is built around both, with 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary sticks required before you finish.
Graduates work in hospitals, laboratories, plasma and dialysis centers, clinics, mobile labs and home health. The program also includes an exam overview workshop and resume and interview coaching.
From first visit to certification
- 01Tour and interview
Visit the Race Street campus, meet admissions and bring your ID, Social Security card and proof of schooling (or take the short reading test).
- 02Enroll and pay
Sign the enrollment agreement and pay the registration fee. Tuition can be paid in full or on a payment plan.
- 03Learn, then draw
Foundations, safety and professional practice online and in class, then lab practice until your 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary sticks are signed off.
- 04Sit for the NHA CPT exam
The last subject is an exam overview workshop. Book the exam when you are ready; enrolled students may practice in our lab first.
The five subjects, in order
Shayanna Tribble
Administrator and instructor: AS, AAS, CPT, CNA, CET
Shayanna Tribble is the co-founder and administrator of Stone Academy and a certified phlebotomy technician, EKG technician and nurse aide. She teaches the phlebotomy and EKG programs and runs the school's admissions and day-to-day operations alongside her mother, the school's founder.
Her background joins science and business administration, which shows in how she teaches: clear steps, strict lab safety, and a close eye on what the NHA exam actually asks.

Good to know
How much does it cost in total?
$2,550 in total: $1,900 tuition, $100 registration and $550 for books and supplies. Not included: the NHA CPT exam ($134), paid to the NHA.
Can I get help paying?
Yes. Moving Stones, our nonprofit partner, helps qualified students pay for training; check if you qualify on their site before you enroll. The school also offers payment plans.
What do I need to enroll?
A tour and interview with admissions, a current photo ID and your signed Social Security card (or ITIN), and proof of a high school diploma, GED, college transcript or 8th grade. If you cannot show proof of schooling, you take a short reading test (CASAS or TABE) instead. You must be 17 by graduation day; under 18 needs a parent's written permission.
How many draws will I do?
At least 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary sticks, in class lab and, if you choose the optional externship, on real patients. The school encourages 20 clinical hours on top of class lab.
Is the NHA exam taken at the school?
Stone Academy prepares you with an exam overview workshop and lab time. You book and pay for the exam through the NHA; the school can tell you where to test.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes, the school offers payment plans; ask admissions for the schedule. A plan must be paid in full before you receive your certificate and sit for the certification exam. A $50 administration fee is kept if you cancel after enrolling.
Does the school help with jobs?
Job placement help is free for every graduate with a Certificate of Completion: employer job fairs, posted openings and referrals through our partner employers. Like every school, we cannot guarantee a job.
